A1GP
2005 Australian F3 - Gilmour Racing/Cooltemp
Racing

Chris Gilmour and Gilmour Racing are proud to announce that Chris Gilmour will
drive Cooltemp Racing's Dallara F304 at the seventh round of the 2005 Kumho Tyres
Australian Formula 3 Championship in support of the A1 Grand Prix series.
For the first six rounds of the championship Chris Gilmour has had to drive Gilmour
Racin's older model Dallara F301. However, thanks to Bevan Carrick and Cooltemp
Racing, Chris will compete the seventh round of the championship in a newer model
Dallara F304 for Cooltemp Racing.
Currently drivers using the newer model car hold the
top-three positions in the championship standings. Chris Gilmour is the first
driver in the championship using the older car, and currently sits in
fourth.
"I can't wait to be in the 04! Gilmour exclaimed To have the same gear as the
top-3 is great. It's our time to shine, and we will see how quick the other drivers
are now," he said.
Gilmour is at
present only 12 points away from gaining third position and the championship. He
also holds a comfortable 39-point margin over fifth position in the
standings.
Gilmour hopes that once again having the newest-spec car will help give him the
speed that he had last year, when the top runners all used the 01 model cars.
In 2004 Gilmour finished the championship in second position, and collected five
race victories, three round victories, and two pole positions. With older gear,
this year has been much tougher. However, Gilmour has still collected three podium
positions in the last two rounds.
Armed with the new Dallara, Chris Gilmour has his sights set on Aaron Caratti,
who has been the runaway leader in Australian Formula 3 this season. 'm going
for the win, Gilmour said. Someone needs to beat Caratti, and I think Im the
man to do that in the right car."
Bevan Carrick and Cooltemp Racing have only run the car once, at their home round
at Queensland Raceway, and the car immediately showed pace. I would like to thank
Bevan Carrick from Cooltemp for giving me this opportunity and trusting me with
his brand new car, Chris Gilmour said.
There is also much more at stake at the seventh round of the
championship than championship points. The round will be conducted in support of
the new A1 Grand Prix series. With influential team owners from across the globe
in attendance, it will be the perfect opportunity to impress owners in the hope
of gaining a racing seat overseas.
Chris Gilmour will also be reunited with an old friend, in the form of Gary Sturdy,
who has been of great help in the past for Chris. I cant wait to have Gary crewing
for me again; he's helped us before in Formula Ford and Formula 3 Gilmour said.
My dad and Gary crewing on the car together will give me the best chance in taking
out the A1GP support race.
Round seven of the 2005 Kumho Tyres Australian
Formula 3 Championship will be held at Eastern Creek on November
3-6.
For their support in 2005, Gilmour Racing would like to thank
Identity Plus, PM Lubricants, Revolution Racegear and Gilmour
Developments.
